NEWFOUNDLAND – Results from recent drill holes point toward even more massive sulphide mineralization at the Lemarchant deposit says owner
Canadian Zinc Corp. of Vancouver. The Lemarchant deposit is part of the South Tally Pond zinc-lead-copper project 35 km south of Millertown in the central part of the province.
The best diamond drill hole, LM17-126, returned 14.4% zinc, 3.4% lead, 2.4% copper, 576.9 g/t silver and 1.1 g/t gold over 7.5 metres. Other notable results included 7.0% zinc, 2.8% lead and 0.6% copper over 7.3 metres in hole 119; 5.4% zinc, 1.6% lead, and 0.6% copper over 7.8 metres in hole 121; 9.8% zinc, 3.2% lead, and 1.0% copper over 4.4 meters in hole 122; 8.82% zinc, 1.0% lead, and 1.1% copper over 2.8 metres in hole 124; 9.3% zinc, 3.0% lead and 2.3% copper over 1.8 metres in hole 125; and 10.3% zinc, 3.1% lead, and 1.0% copper over 2.9 metres in hole 128.
Canadian Zinc estimates the Lemarchant deposit contains 1.2 million indicated tonnes averaging 5.4% zinc, 1.2% lead, and 0.6% copper plus 1.3 million inferred tonnes averaging 3.7% zinc, 0.9% lead, and 0.4% copper. A zinc equivalent cut-off of 7.5% was used for the estimate.
This summer’s drill program extended the Lemarchant Main zone up-dip by as much as 80 metres, said the company. The up-dip mineralization typically has a well-developed footwall alteration zone with local zones of intense hydrothermal alteration and stringer mineralization.
