SWEDEN – Atlas Copco has unveiled the newest addition to its family of Boomer underground face drills, the E1 C-DH. This is a single-boom, diesel-hydraulic multipurpose unit specifically designed for mines lacking water and electrical infrastructure. The new machine comes with two onboard 450-L water tanks and a 173-kW Deutz diesel engine that powers the wheels, boom and hydraulic pumps.

The Boomer E1 C-DH rig is one of the largest diesel-hydraulic face drills with a coverage are of up to 95 m2, a 38% increase over its predecessor. Yet it is compact enough to manoeuver in tight spaces. This Boomer has particular application to widening existing tunnels or adding bolts in older workings, where power and water are lacking.

Atlas Copco supplies the new Boomer with its rig control system (RCS). It is compatible with a number of options including a basket and varying degrees of automation.
