NORTHWEST TERRITORIES — Increased product inventory and declining tungsten prices have forced North American Tungsten of Vancouver to announce the suspension of work at the CanTung mine 300 km northeast of Watson Lake, YT. The operation will be placed on care-and-maintenance beginning Oct. 15, 2009.

The company says it will continue to sell tungsten concentrate from inventory to meet its contracted obligations. There is also sufficient inventory to make spot sales through early 2010. Exploration drilling at the CanTung and MacTung deposits will continue this summer. Permitting and development work will also continue at MacTung.
