QUEBEC –
Rio Tinto Fer et Titane has quietly extended the shutdown of its Tio titanium mine in Havre-Saint-Pierre for an extra two weeks. Closed since mid-October, it will not reopen until April 10.
The open pit mine supplies concentrate to Rio’s metallurgical complex in Sorel-Tracy where titanium dioxide, pig iron, steel and metal powders are made.
