LONDON, U.K. – The International Council on Mining and Metals is asking individuals and organizations to help it improve the environmental and social performance of the mineral industry through a world-wide consultation. [caption id="attachment_1003722766" align="alignright" width="300"] The ICMM has a mission to make mining more sustainable. Take the survey. (Image: International Council on Mining and Metals)[/caption] ICMM members companies follow 10 principles and eight position statements on specific issues such as water stewardship and fiscal transparency. They report annually on their performance, and these reports are independently audited to confirm that they meet the highest ICMM standards. The objective is to set an even higher benchmark for responsible mining practices that members and other companies will follow. Commitment to the principles would guide miners to the best corporate social responsibility practices. The council urges all stakeholders to take the online survey before May 18, 2018. It is available in English, French, Portuguese, Spanish, and Japanese. Click on the language of your choice to go directly to the survey. Joint the ICMM mailing list at www.ICMM.com.
