McKeil Marine of Hamilton announces the addition of a second bulk carrier designed with four cargo holds for transporting heavy loads of powdered cement and other raw materials. Built in 2004, the ship is a 136 metre by 21 metre general cargo vessel capable of carrying 13,500 metric tonnes. It will operate predominantly between the Great Lakes and the Maritimes. McKeil Marine is a family-owned business that was established in 1956 and operates a fleet of tugs, barges, workboats and cargo ships throughout the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence Seaway, East Coast and the Canadian Arctic.
