Sayona Mining (ASX:STA; OTCQB:SYAXF) has drilled additional mineralization outside the current resource estimate at its Moblan lithium project in Quebec’s Eeyou-Istchee James Bay region. The project is a 60% partnership of Sayona and 40% SOQUEM.

Besides the potential to increase resources, drilling inside the pit shell continues to show continuity and consistency in grade and thickness, says Sayona.

Highlights from 41 new drill holes (8,925 metres), the deepest of which reached 209 metres below surface, include the following:

  • 55.6 metres at 1.80% lithium oxide (Li2O) in 1331-23-430;
  • 52.6 metres at 1.50% Li2O in 1331-23-431;
  • 17.0 metres at 1.55% Li2O in 1331-23-463A ;
  • 51.4 metres at 1.34% Li2O in 1331-23-471;
  • 54.0 metres at 1.28% Li2O in 1331-23-477; and
  • 15.7 metres at 2.37% Li2O in 1331-23-485A.

The new results reinforce the Moblan status as the centerpiece of its Eeyou-Istchee James Bay hub in northern Quebec, says Sayona. It has the potential to increase total lithium production alongside Sayona’s North American Lithium mine and mill farther south in the province.

Environmental impact assessment studies are ongoing, with Sayona continuing its proactive stakeholder engagement approach towards the local community, including First Nations communities.

Sayona is also investigating the lithological and structural interpretation of the four main zones at the Moblan deposit. These studies will improve the specific knowledge of the different pegmatites domains and specific geochemistry, mineralogy and structural features to help vectorize exploration activities and potentially extend Moblan’s mineralization.
