TORONTO - Hays Canada, a national recruitment consultancy, has expanded its Resources and Mining Division to its Toronto office to service a growing demand for talent in Ontario, Quebec and eastern Canada. According to Hays’ 2012 “Compensation, Benefits, Recruitment and Retention Guide,” 86% of Canadian resource and mining employers have indicated that a considerable shortage of skilled professionals exists within the market.
“We’re evolving to meet the needs of this robust sector,” said Rowan O’Grady, president of Hays Canada. “There is a global competition for the best and brightest. If you look at the Canadian mining industry alone, more than 60 per cent of employers are prepared to hire candidates from foreign markets – a trend that has grown significantly in 2012.”
Hays’ recruitment efforts will focus on mid-level positions to the executive suite for geologists, mining engineers, mine planners, capital project managers, as well as health, safety and environmental managers and engineers.
