Quebec City - A new e-book, Success and Failure in the Canadian Metallurgical Industry, looks to be a fascinating read for those of us in the mining industry. Canada is a world leader in the metallurgical industry and numerous metallurgical processes were invented or developed in Canada. Success and Failure describes this industry by a metallurgist who witnessed most of these events. The author, Fathi Habashi, who is the Professor Emeritus of Extractive Metallurgy at Laval University, describes briefly the Geological Survey of Canada, the Mines Branch, the engineering firms, all the major metal sectors along with some of the major miners who are with us no more, such as Falconbridge, Noranda and many others. This e-book, ISBN 978-2-922686-66-1, is published by Métallurgie Extractive Québec and distributed by Laval University Bookstore Zone, E-mail: conseiller@zone.coop, web site: www.zone.ul.ca. Price $ 25. Number of pages: 170.
