Osisko Mining (TSX: OSK) continues to expand its Golden Bear discovery about 1,000 metres north of its Windfall gold project in Eeyou Istchee James Bay, Que. A new zone (the fourth one, named D4) was drilled 250 metres southwest of D1, 225 metres below surface, and remains open in all directions.

D4 is defined by five intercepts: 3.5 metres grading 15.3 g/t gold in hole OSK-UB-21-296; 2.8 metres at 6.26 g/t in hole OSK-UB-21-298; 1.4 metres at 4.14 g/t gold and 1.2 metres at 4.15 g/t gold in hole ISK-UB-21-299; and 2.4 metres at 10.5 g/t gold in hole OSK-UB-21-301.

Osisko says the  new zone displays silica alteration and pyrite with visible gold, similar to the Lynx zones at Windfall. D4 has a sub-parallel orientation to the three previously defined D zones.

The discovery of Golden Bear was announced in June 2021. It was confirmed last September with results from the D1 zone. Drilling at that time also identified the D2 and D3 zones.

The D1 zone was traced 170 metres along strike with an east-northeast plunge. The best assay came from 2 metres grading 67.1 g/t gold in hole USKA-US-21-273. Other intercepts were 2.2 metres at 26.53 g/t gold and 2 metres at 14.9 g/t in hole OSK-UB-21-272.

“Apart from the D zones, there are also a number of results that do not yet correlate to a defined zone. The team is excited to be working on what we hope will become a significant discovery,” said CEO John Burzynski in a release.

Earlier this month, Osisko announced the resources at Windfall contain 6.8 million oz. of gold in total. The four zones at Windfall are Underdog, Main, Triple 8 and Lynx, which contains 60% of the gold. Late last year, Australia’s Northern Star Resources became at partner at Windfall with an investment of $154 million.

Drilling is continuing on the up and down plunge areas of the D4 zone. Full analytical results area posted at www.OsiskoMining.com.
