GREENLAND DIAMOND FIELDS INTERNATIONAL of Vancouver, INCO LIMITED of Toronto and NUNA MINERALS of Denmark have entered into an agreement whereby Inco may earn a 51% interest in exploration licences on Ammassalik Island in eastern Greenland. The area in question is adjacent to a property for which the three companies announced a similar agreement in June 2005.
The Ammassalik nickel project has been explored by Diamond Fields since 2003, resulting in anomalous nickel showings over a wide area. The discovery showing, on the south coast of Ammassalik Island near Tassilaq, is similar to the ultramafic-hosted Thompson nickel mineralization, based on age, structural, geochemical and petrographic analysis, says Diamond Fields.
Details of the agreements as well as maps and information about the project are available at www.DiamondFields.com. Long-time readers of CMJ will recall it was Diamond Fields that sold the Voisey's Bay nickel-cobalt deposit in Labrador to Inco, which is readying it for production in 2006.
