Rob Middleton of Thunder Bay, Ontario, sees no upside to the Ontario plan to protect much of the boreal forest in the northern part of the province: "Announcing such a critical piece of bad news in the summer was a politically smart thing to do, but it will and should alienate Northern Ontario even further vs. the South and their dumb decisions that affect the north," he wrote. "MNDM [Ministry of Northern Development and Mines] was supposed to promote the north and mining. This proposal is anti-mining. It will frighten international investors away with such sudden changes. I think it will lead to increased taxes."
