MINING PEOPLE: McEwen Mining, Riverside Resources, and Royal Nickel

The new COO of Toronto-based McEwen Mining is Xavier Ochoa, a seasoned executive with more than 25 years’ experience. Most recently he was general manager at Goldcorp’s Cerro Negro mine. Former COO William Faust is leaving the company on Sept. 30, 2016. Riverside Resources of Vancouver has named Ron Burk its new VP of exploration. He previously held the same title at Centerra Gold. Kevin Small is now director of mining operations at Royal Nickel Corp of Toronto. His first responsibility will be to oversee the ramp-up of the Beta Hunt gold and nickel mine in Western Australia. He holds a mining engineering degree from Queen’s University.
