Elmer B Stewart is the new president and CEO of Calgary-based Copper Fox Metals. He replaces Guillermo Salazar who has retired but will remain with the company in the capacity of senior technical consultant.

 

Toronto-based Eloro Resources has named Denis Potvin to its board of directors. The former New York Islander is also a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

 

Pinnacle Mines of Vancouver has appointed Dr. Lawrence Dick as president and CEO. The appointment follows the resignation of Paul Saxton who will remain on the board. Dick is a graduate of the University of British Columbia and Queen's University and is credited with major discoveries at Collahuasi and Can Can in Chile, Golden Bear in British Columbia, the San Jose deposit in Mexico and major silver finds in Bolivia.

 

Vancouver's Ventana Gold has named Stephen Orr to the position of president and CEO, effective Sept. 1, 2009. He is a former executive at Homestake Canada, Barrick Gold and, most recently, OceanaGold.

 

Alar Soever, president of Toronto's Wallbridge Mining Company, has taken on the additional duties of CEO. Warren Holmes, a director since 2002, has been appointed chairman. The changes follow the recent passing of former CEO and chairman Risto Laamanen.

 

Western Canadian Coal of Vancouver has named Craig Dirk its new COO of Canadian operations. His expertise encompasses operations, engineering and maintenance, and includes managing a BHP Billiton coal mine and managing the engineering department for Fording Coal. Most recently Dirk was the managing partner at MineTeck Associates, a mine consultant firm he founded, the general manager of Western Canada for P&H MinePro, and a member of P&H MinePro Canada's board of directors.
