Vancouver-based Golden Arrow Resources  has hired Juan Carlos Benítez Maldonado as country manager for its exploration programs in Paraguay. He is a geologist who was part of the Paso Yobai gold discovery, the start-up of the Independence gold mine (Paraguay’s first), and an advisor to the country’s vice-minister of Mines and Energy. [caption id="attachment_1003731163" align="alignright" width="124"] Mark Farren[/caption] Ivanhoe Mines’ Mark Farren has been appointed CEO of the Kamoa-Kakula copper joint venture in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He heads a stand-alone team that will take the project through to production. He joined Ivanhoe in 2014 as executive VP operations. Jason Baker is the new mine manager of the Scotia zinc-lead mine near Gays River, N.S. The mine is owned by ScoZinc Mining of Cooks Brook, N.S. Baker will also become the company’s VP of investor relations.
