Champion Iron of Montreal has named David Cataford as its COO following the retirement of Alexander Horvath. Cataford joined the company in 2014 as VP engineering and oversaw the completion of the Bloom Lake iron ore feasibility study.
As the Horne 5 gold project moves closer to construction, Montreal’s Falco Resources has beefed up its board and executive team with the following appointments: Bryan A. Coates (president of Osisko Gold Royalties) as a board member; Helene Cartier as VP environment and sustainability; Francois Vezina as VP technical services; and Christian Laroche as VP metallurgy.
First Cobalt Corp. of Toronto has appointed Dr. Frank Santaguida its new VP exploration and Peter Campbell its VP business development. Santaguida is a geoscientist with worldwide experience and previously worked for the Ontario Geological Survey, Falconbridge, and First Quantum. Campbell is also a former Falconbridge employee, but moved to capital markets in 2006 where he earned a reputation as an astute analyst.
The new COO of Toronto-based INV Metals is William (Bill) Shaver, who lead the design, development and operation of the company’s Loma Larga gold project in Ecuador. Recently he was COO of FNX Mining and president and CEO of DMC Mining Services.
