Mike Henry will replace
BHP boss Andrew Mackenzie who is retiring at the end of the year. Henry is currently BHP’s president of operations in Australia. He has also held executive positions with the company in its coal business, health and safety, environmental, marketing and technology sectors. Born in Canada and holder of a BSc in chemistry from the University of British Columbia, Henry will become BHP’s CEO and a director on Jan. 1, 2020.
Giga Metals Corp. of Vancouver has named Martin Vydra its president. He held senior positions at Sherritt International until his retirement in 2018, and he is also head of strategy at Conic Metals, which holds a royalty on the Turnagain nickel-cobalt project in B.C.
Toronto-based
Harte Gold Corp. has named Sam Coetzer as president, CEO and a director of the company. At the same time, Dr. Martin Raffield has become executive VP and COO. Coetzer has over 30 years’ international mining experience and was most recently president and CEO of Golden Star Resources. Raffield brings 25 years’ experience to his position, having been most recently the executive VP and chief technical officer of Golden Star.
Ridgestone Mining of Vancouver has named Jonathan George as its CEO and a director. He is a geologist and mining entrepreneur. He replaces Ted Liu, who will remain on the board.
