MINING PEOPLE: Adventus, Guyana Goldfields, Nemaska Lithium, and Stornoway

Adventus Zinc Corp. has named Gunther Sotomayor its VP projects. He has over 30  years of experience including leadership of technical and project development teams. He holds a BSc degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg and a BComm from the University of South Africa. Separately, Adventus named Barry Murphy an independent director. The new senior VP and COO at Toronto-based Guyana Goldfields is Suresh Kalathil. He was recently general manager of the Rosebel mine belonging to Iamgold. Quebec City’s Nemaska Lithium has appointed Robert Beaulieu as VP operations. He is leading the construction and operations readiness for commissioning of the Whabouchi mine/mill and the Shawinigan electrochemical plant. He was notably at the helm of the technical commissioning and production ramp-up of Glencore’s Koniambo nickel mine from 2012 to 2018. Stornoway Diamond Corp. of Montreal has added Hubert T. Lacroix and Angelina Mehta to its board of directors. Lacroix was president and CEO of CBC/Radio-Canada from 2008-2018.  Mehta is a senior mining advisor with Paradigm Capital and VP operations at North American Nickel/
