MINERAL PROCESSING: Outotec to deliver ferrochrome plant to China

ESPOO, Finland - Outotec Oyj will design, build and deliver a new ferrochrome plant to Baotou, in Inner Mongolia, China. The plant is to be operational in 2013 and produce 300,000 t/y of ferrochrome. The value of the contract was not disclosed.

ESPOO, Finland - Outotec Oyj will design, build and deliver a new ferrochrome plant to Baotou, in Inner Mongolia, China. The plant is to be operational in 2013 and produce 300,000 t/y of ferrochrome. The value of the contract was not disclosed.

Outotec will do the engineering and supply of proprietary and other key equipment. A proprietary steel belt sinter plant and an operating licence for it are included. The plant will have an annual capacity of 700,000 tonnes of chromite pellets and two 69-MVA smelting furnaces with preheaters.
