NEWFOUNDLAND - FL Smidth of Denmark and Orillia, ON, has been awarded the contract to supply comminution and sedimentation equipment for Vale Inco's new hydrometallurgical plant at Long Harbour. FL Smidth will supply two ball mills (one concentrate and one limestone) and 13 Eimco thickeners and clarifiers. The plant will treat ore from the Voisey's Bay nickel-copper-cobalt mine in Labrador.
Vale Inco expects to have the new hydromet plant up and running by February 2013.
Photographs of the work being done at Long Harbour are posted at http://vinl.ValeInco.com.
