Photo competition attracts worldwide attention

  

  

Internationally known Snowden Mining Industry Consultants is pleased to announce the 2011 winners of its popular photo competition, "Celebrating the Mining Industry."

With more than 1000 entries from around the world, some from as far away as Ukraine, India, Ghana, and Tasmania, the contest is aimed at promoting the positive aspects of the mining industry by exhibiting the efforts of enthusiastic photographers at several events around the world.

Now in its 7th year, the photo contest features six categories and this year's winners are:

Overall Winner: Joe Brnobic

Title: Urubamba salt mine consists of thousands of pools filled with salt-saturated water that filters through salt deposits above the mine.

Location: Urubamba, Peru

Black & White: Buchachon Petthanya

Title: Almost done

Location: Phuket, Thailand

Landscape/General: Mamun Sultan Nur

Title: Stones and boulders collected from here are sent to different parts of the world for construction works.

Location: Dhaka, Bangladesh

Equipment/Machinery: Brock Johnston

Title: Welder arc-air gouging Hitachi EX5500 bucket

Location: Carlota Copper, AZ, USA

People/Culture: KM Asad
