New Simba longhole drill from Atlas Copco.

SWEDEN – Longhole production drilling can be substantially improved with any of four new Simba drill rigs, says the manufacturer, Atlas Copco. The Simba ME7 C, Simba E7 C and C-ITH (an in-the-hole version) and Simba W7 C give miners true choice when choosing a jumbo for different mining environments.

The new rigs are designed for holes as deep as 51.2 metres in medium to large drifts. All models offer precision, versatility and flexibility. They feature four stingers and sturdy BUT 45 booms for maximum safety during setup and positioning. Automated rod handling is a standard feature.

Simba ME7 C rigs are suitable for drilling parallel holes up to 6.9 metres apart and diameters between 51 and 89 mm. The E7 C model drills holes up to 6.1 metres apart with diameters of 89 to 127 mm. The E7 C-ITH handles holes up to 5.2 metres apart with diameters of 92 to 178 mm. The W7 C is fitted with the Wassara water powered hammer (successfully used in both Sweden and Norway) for special applications.
