Komatsu built durability, productivity and comfort into its new WA900-8 wheel loader.[/caption]
ILLINOIS –
Komatsu America has introduced the WA900-8. The 116,400-kg wheel loader is equipped with an EPA Tier 4 Final certified emission regulations compliant engine. The machine is purpose-built to load about 65- to 135-tonne haul trucks with a bucket capacity of between 11 and 15 m
3.
“The WA900-8 is the perfect machine for loading haul trucks in limestone pits because the all new Komatsu bucket design, with modified profile, maximizes bucket fill to increase productivity,” said Robert Hussey, product marketing manager at Komatsu America. “The large pillarless cab offers great visibility, and the higher capacity air suspension seat along with the electronically controlled suspension system (ECSS), provides a smooth ride for better travel performance to keep operators comfortable throughout long shifts.”
Expect productivity and efficiency from the WA9000-8. The variable traction control system and modulation clutch system add up to traction in all ground conditions. Komatsu’s SmartLoader Logic reduces fuel consumption with sacrificing productivity. The closed centre load sensing hydraulic system delivers hydraulic flow based on demand to save fuel and reduce hydraulic oil temperatures. To improve cycle times, use the throttle lock with auto-deceleration.
Under the hood, the Tier 4 final engine has a power rating of 650 kW – 5% higher than the WA900-3E0. Komatsu’s dual diesel particulate filters and no catalytic reduction system means no DEF is required. The turbochargers feature variable geometry for precise engine control and quick response.
The new loader has Komatsu’s accessibility and operator comfort features, including an advanced joystick steering system, electronic pilot control, semi-automatic dig and dump systems to reduce fatigue for experienced operations, a high resolution monitor and dedicated rear-view camera, as well as user friendly stairs and walkways.
Owners will find new technology on the WA9000-8, such as an advanced machine monitoring system with monitor (no laptop needed for troubleshooting). KomVision uses radar to detect obstacles, six cameras to provide an all-around view for the operator and an optional audible alert. The enhanced Komtrax Plus provides immediate remote diagnostics and performance, and the energy saving ECO guidance system provides the operator with real-time recommendations to improve machine efficiency.
Expect exceptional durability thanks to the redesigned front and rear frame and loader linkages that make the WA9000-8 the most durable chassis Komatsu has ever made. There is a new standard brake cooling system that reduces brake oil temperature, resulting in longer brake life between service intervals. And the engine pre-lubrication system raises engine oil pressure before start-up to ensure full lubrication of all engine components
