Last week we asked CMJ readers what their comfort level is when it comes to ownership and exploitation of Canada's mineral resources. It turns out they are pragmatists. The vast majority, 88%, are okay with companies from market-based economies (including the Canadian and American options). Those who would restrict ownership to Canadian companies represented 15% of the vote. At the opposite end of the spectrum are the 12% who are comfortable with any foreign company from any country setting up operations in Canada.
