ARIZONA –
Northern Vertex Mining of Vancouver has poured its first gold at the Moss mine in Mohave County. The heap leach project carries an after tax internal rate of return of 63% and net present value of US$133 million.
The brownfield, heap leach project was six years in development. During a pilot production run in 2014, it produced 4,000 oz. of gold and 20,000 oz. of silver. The project has a 10-year life, but during the first five years roughly 240,000 oz. of gold equivalent will be recovered.
The Moss mine has measured and indicated resoruces of 15.5 million tonnes grading 0.76 g/t gold and 8.3 g/t silver for 377,000 oz. of gold and 4.6 million oz. of contained silver. There are an additional 2.2 million oz of inferred resources at 0.55 g//t gold and 5.6 g/t silver.
Northern Vertex believes there is a great deal of blue sky exploration to be done in the region. Moss has a 1,500-metre strike length with 3 km of untested potential. The property has >200 historic showings. The target is to outline at least 1.0 million oz. of gold.
