NEVADA – The US subsidiary of
Rye Patch Gold Corp. has won the Nevada Excellence in Mine Reclamation award for its work at the Standard mine site on the Florida Canyon mine property in Pershing County. The award recognizes the reclamation design and planning at the north waste rock storage facility.
Rye Patch said that after the North pit was mined out, the surrounding pits were mined concurrently. The waste rock pile reached its planned height in 2015, and it was then sloped to match the surrounding topography. Reclamation was completed in July 2016.
The Florida Canyon mine lies within the Oreana gold trend in the central-western part of the state. Although the mine is currently closed, Rye Patch acquired it for US$15 million and 20 million shares earlier this year. The company made a successful US$37.2 million equity offering and concluded a US$27 million debt facility to cover initial capital expenditures. Rye Patch has completed a preliminary economic assessment for reopening the mine as a heap leach with a 10-year life.
