ONTARIO –
Rubicon Minerals Corp. of Toronto has released the remainder of the 2017 drilling results from the Phoenix gold project in the Red Lake district. Of particular interest was the area below the historic McFinley gold deposit, what Rubicon calls McFinley Deep.
Three holes were drilled at McFinley Deep from the 244- and 685-metre levels to test the extension of the historic deposit. Drilling intersected gold-bearing quartz veins and sulphides in four zones similar to the lithological sequence in the historic deposit. The following assays were noted:
- Hole 244-17-C02: 2.66 g/t gold over 0.5 metre and 1.05 g/t over 0.6 metre;
- Hole 244-17-C03: 4.87 g/t gold over 0.4 metre, 2.31 g/t over 0.5 metre, 3.60 g/t over 0.5 metre, and 1.53 g/t over 0.9 metre; as well as
- Hole 685-17-C04: 3.66 g/t gold over 0.4 metre, 2.93 g/t over 0.7 metre, 3.48 g/t over 1.0 metre, and 5.55 g/t over 0.7 metre.
The infill and definition drilling results from the 610- and 685-metre levels were higher grade: hole 685-17-09: 14.25 g/t gold over 1.8 metres, including 61.61 g/t over 0.4 metres; hole 685-17-10: 23.39 g/t gold over 2.0 metres, including 46.73 g/t over 1.0 metre; hole 685-17-12: 11.03 g/t gold over 1.9 metres, including 30.90 g/t over 0.7 metre; and hole 685-17-13: 28.19 g/t gold over 1.6 metres, including 61.96 g/t over 0.7 metres.
