ONTARIO – The 2015 exploration program at the Black Fox gold mine 8 km east of Matheson is exceeding expectations, according to
Primero Mining Corp. Not only has drilling confirmed that mineralization continues deep in the mine but a wide extension of the Froome zone has been outlined.
Two deep holes drilled at the Deep Central zone of the mine returned excellent results – 16.0 g/t Au over 11.9 metres and 15.4 g/t over 10.8 metres – about 800 metres below the surface. Delineation drilling in the same zone returned 10.9 g/t Au over 10.5 metres, 8.7 g/t over 9.1 metres and 9.2 g/t over 8.4 metres.
At the Froome zone, discovered late last year about 1 km west of the Black Fox pit, recent drilling returned 5.1 g/t Au over 56.7 metres and 4.8 g/t over 52.4 metres less than 200 metres below surface. Primero believes this area could continue to expand.
The Gibson South zone continues to show promise. Recent drilling returned 5.2 g/t Au over 34.0 metres.
The best assays from the Contact zone were 3.0 g/t Au over 24.0 metres and 6.3 g/t over 22.4 metres.
