NEWFOUNDLAND - CREW GOLD, a Canadian company headquartered in the United Kingdom, has recommissioned its Nugget Pond gold mill and poured the first gold bar from Nalunaq ore. Crew bought the Nugget Pond mill in October 2006 specifically to treat ore from its new mine in southern Greenland. The plant is running at its designed throughput of 425 t/d, but it is to be expanded to 600 t/h in the third quarter of this year.
Ore shipments began in February, and to March 26 totalled 42,851 dry tonnes.
Crew Gold is the 82.5% owner and operator of the Nalunaq mine. A description of the geology and resources is available at www.CrewGold.com.
