ONTARIO - Operations resumed Dec. 8 at St Andrew Goldfields' Holt gold mine near Timmins following repairs to the shaft. A "significant" shaft incident occurred on Nov. 26 while a piece of equipment was being lowered. Shaft timbers were damaged in several areas from near surface to the 250-meter level of the 1,195-metre shaft. No employees were injured in the incident.
Operations at the Holloway and Hislop mines and the Holt mill were not significantly affected. The company did say, however, that it may fall short of this year's 80,000-oz production target.
