NEWFOUNDLAND – Toronto-based
Marathon Gold Corp. has drilled its highest ever gold interval – 190.88 g/t Au (uncut) over 0.7 metres – at its Valentine Lake project 55 km south of Buchans. This core was part of a 7.2 metre (true thickness) intersection that averaged 21.17 g/t Au.

The bonanza assay came from an intersection 200 metres below surface in the extension of a previous hole. The total mineralized strike is at least 1.7 km, and the Marathon deposit remains open along strike and at depth. The Valentine gold camp hosts four near surface, pit shell constrained, gold resources totaling 1,060,100 oz of gold at 2.20 g/t (measured and indicated) and 200,000 oz at 2.85 g/t (inferred) as estimated in April 2015.
Meanwhile, Marathon continues its metallurgical work on material from the project. The company says it has had columns under irrigation for 69 days and the tests are still producing gold, a positive sign for a heap leach operation.
