NEWFOUNDLAND – Toronto-based Marathon Gold Corp. continues to expand its Marathon gold deposit with recent drilling results including 2.11 g/t Au (cut) over 68.3 metres (true width) and 1.33 g/t over 48.8 metres (true width). The deposit is in the Valentine Gold Camp 55 km south of Buchans. The company says its latest drilling intercepted very wide intervals of gold mineralization for up to 80 metres down dip of previous holes. The new holes reportedly confirm the continuity of the mineralized corridor of the Marathon deposit over widths of 50 to 100 metres, remaining open along strike and at depth. "The drilling program is going very well at the Marathon deposit. The deeper drill holes are continuing to prove that the deposit is open to depth and so far the deeper holes are intersecting wider mineralization than is found closer to surface. These deeper intersections do have significant zones of higher grades within them. While more drilling is needed, it appears that the thicker zones of gold mineralization have a shallow plunge to the south west," said Phillip Walford, president and CEO of Marathon. Tables of detailed results from the latest holes are available in the news release of Aug. 9, 2016, posted at www.Marathon-Gold.com.
