(Credit: Lundin Gold)[/caption] ECUADOR – Vancouver-based Lundin Gold says it has ordered long lead time grinding equipment for the Fruta del Norte gold mill. The package includes the SAG and ball mills complete with motors to be supplied by Outotec Chile. Outotec was also awarded the flotation and filtration equipment contracts. The remainder of the mill equipment is expected to be ordered by the end of the year. Lundin also confirmed that development is well underway at Fruta. Detailed engineering contracts for the mill, tailings facility and water management have been awarded. The contract for the power transmission line has been awarded. Finally, major earthwork activities are started as has work on the mill. The mine contractor began work on twin portals in May 2017, and both are completed. Soft tunneling through the initial clay material began in September in the first decline and in October in the second. The transition from soft tunneling to hard rock is expected to begin on schedule by the end of this year. Surface facilities – offices, mine dry, warehouse, maintenance, and batch plant – have also been built and are operational. More details are available at www.LundinGold.com.
