NEVADA – It is with pride that owner Veris Gold Corp. of Vancouver announces that it's Jerritt Canyon processing plant poured its 8-millionth oz of gold on March 21, 2013. The first ounce of gold was produced on July 4, 1981, when Freeport-McMoRan and FMC Corp. owned and operated the Bell open pit mine.
In the early years from 1983 to 2006, the Jerritt Canyon plant consistently produced over 200,000 oz of gold per year. Recent upgrades to the processing plant by Veris Gold and the start-up of two new underground mines (Starvation Canyon and Saval 4) will bring output up to at least 175,000 oz in 2013.
At the end of last year, measured and indicated resources graded 6.48 g/t Au containing 2.3 million oz, reserves graded 6.00 g/t containing 1.1 million oz, and the inferred resource at 6.24 g/t contained 750,000 oz of gold. Veris has plotted a four-plus year life of mine plan.
