MANITOBA – QMX Gold Corp. (formerly Alexis Minerals) of Toronto has successfully completed a 7,194-metre surface drilling program in the Birch zone at the Snow Lake mine near the town of the same name. The most promising assay was 5.35 g/t Au over 6.4 metres. Other holes returned 3.30 g/t over 0.5 metres and 4.89 g/t over 4.6 metres.
The Birch zone is located 3 km by road from the Snow Lake mine. It has a 43-101-compliant inferred resource of 596,000 tonnes at 4.42 g/t Au, or roughly 81,000 oz of contained gold. These resources were not included in the 2010 development and production plans for the mine. QMX is preparing a new resource model to include this tonnage.
The company says the latest drilling results have the potential to enhance the Snow Lake mine start-up plan and could extend the mine life beyond that defined in the feasibility study.
The 2010 numbers include measured and indicated resources of 3.5 million tonnes at 0.152 g/t Au (containing 535,000 oz) and an inferred resource of 2.4 million tonnes at 0.152 g/t (356,229 oz). The technical report may be read in its entirety at AlexisMinerals.com
