QUEBEC — Northern Star Mining (NSM) of Val d'Or has made what it calls a "significant" new gold discovery at its nearby Malartic-Midway project. Hole 08-160 intersected 86.48 g/t Au (2.54 opt) over 4.8 metres in a gabbro formation.
The same intersection included 802.43 g/t (23.46 opt) over 0.5 metres and 160.69 g/t (4.7 opt) over 2.6 metres. The same hole also intersected a mineralized zone 200 metres above the bonanza-grade zone. The upper intersection assayed 5.38 g/t Au over 4.9 metres.
Hole 08-160 is located approximately 150 metres east of shaft No.1, half way to the Chabela zone.
NSM president Michel David said, “This unanticipated result increases the potential of the Malartic-Midway project by opening up new areas of gold mineralization. It also demonstrates the potential of bonanza type high-grade gold intersection."
Drilling continues and further results are expected shortly.
