QUEBEC — Underground drilling at the Casa Berardi gold mine is returning good grades for owner Aurizon Mines of Vancouver. Exploration was carried out from a drift at the 810-metre level, east of zone 113 and south of the Casa Berardi Fault.
The best of 19 holes included the following:
Hole CBW-0885 12.7 g/t over a true width of 13.2 metres
Hole CBW-0692 6.1 g/t over a true width of 7.2 metres
Hole CBW-0886 30.6 g/t over a true width of 20.1 metres
Hole CBW-0696 22.3 g/t over a true width of 3.9 metres
The current program has extended the trend down to the 950-metre level from the 810-metre level. The mine is located near Val d'Or.
Aurizon is also having success exploring its Joanna project 20 km east of Rouyn-Noranda. Two new mineralized trends have been drilled north and south of the Heva-Hosco trend.
Highlights include:
6.8 g/t over 3.0 metres intersected 1,000 metres north of the Cadillac Fault
3.0 g/t over 4.6 metres intersected 300 metres south of the Cadillac Fault
"The results of the recent drill program have validated our application of geophysics and soil geochemistry in identifying targets with the discovery of the Joanna North and South mineralized trends. These two areas were not subject to historical drilling." said Elise Bourgault, project geologist. "Both discoveries remain open on strike and down dip." she added.
