MALI - Artisanal miners have unearthed a 2.7-kg gold nugget on land belonging to AFRICAN GOLD GROUP of Toronto. The find was made in the northwest quadrant of the Kobada concession in the Kangaba region. African Gold says the location is a considerable distance from where the company has undertaken work.

The nugget is an irregular shape, but fell apart when lifted for weighing. The company says the nugget probably had a local origin. Had it traveled very far, it would have broken up easily. The nugget may have been weathered out of a quartz-carbonate vein.
