BADEN, Switzerland - ABB has won an order worth over $14 million from OSISKO EXPLORATION. Osisko wants to develop the Canadian Malartic gold deposit 20 km west of Val d'Or, Quebec, where it believes the deposit contains 8.4 million oz gold.
The ABB order includes a complete 19-MW, gearless mill drive system for a 11.5-metre SAG mill. The contract includes engineering and delivery, which is scheduled for the end of 2008. The system will include a ring motor, transformer, housings and a new ABB cyclo-converter controller, AC 800PE.
The Canadian Malartic mine is scheduled to begin production in Q3 2009 (www.Osisko.com).
