NEWFOUNDLAND - Toronto-based Canada Fluorspar is raising $40 million by way of a private placement with Dundee Securities. Provision has been made for a 15% over-allotment.
Canada Fluorspar will use the money to restart production at the St. Lawrence fluorspar mine on the southern tip of the Burin Peninsula. Work that must be done includes underground redevelopment of the previously mined Tarefare and Blue Beach North veins, upgrades to the existing mill, design and construction of a new tailings management area, and design and construction of a new marine terminal in the harbour.

In my visit to St. Lawrance in August of this year, I noticed that it was an aged but vibrant community. With lots of up and coming young adults this would be a welcome site. Also, with the history of the community and the surrounding areas there would be alot of opinions/suggestions as to what the previous problems were and what things could be done to prevent them from happening again. I liked the area and decided that I will move there at the end of this Nov. A person such as myself, 23 years old with limited schooling and no clear proffession would welcome a opertunity such as a newly re-opened/re-overhauled mine as a new path option. In end, the re-opening would be a welcome site for the entire area.
