FLOTATION DEVICE – Eriez introduces next-generation technology

ERIE, Pennsylvania - ERIEZ has introduced a new flotation technology that it says will provide metallurgical results superior to conventional mechanical cells while offering benefits similar to those of column cells. The new Eriez technology is said to be ideal for a wide variety of applications, including those involving fast floating coals or overloaded conventional cell circuits.

The manufacturer says there are many advantages to using its new flotation device. Sparging is improved by using pre-aeration techniques. Cell size is reduced by half and power demand by one-third due to the use of low-pressure blowers instead of high-pressure compressors. Residence time is also less. The use of wash water and deep froths provide column-like metallurgy. Importantly, the new equipment can be incorporated into existing installations.

Eriez is installing a three-stage, 40-t/h unit that will be operational by the end of May 2008 at a customer's facility.
