VENEZUELA - Spokane, Wash.-based GOLD RESERVE INC. has awarded the EPCM contract for its Brisas copper-gold project to SNC-LAVALIN of Montreal. The firm will undertake detailed project engineering, procurement and construction management for the process, infrastructure, tailings and camp facilities.
Gold Reserve says it will proceed with project financing when it receives the needed construction permit from the Venezuelan Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources. Capital costs of the project have risen to US$638 million from the US$552 million estimated in January 2005.
