NORTHWEST TERRITORIES – Calgary-based De Beers Canada has created a new partnership with the Det’On Cho Corp. (DDC) for the care and maintenance of the Snap Lake diamond mine. The corporation is the business development arm of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation. DDC will provide personnel for site safety, camp support, travel and logistics, environmental monitoring, and management services. The contract will run initially for three years with an option for extension. De Beers opened the Snap Lake mine 220 km northeast of Yellowknife in 2008, and placed it on care and maintenance in December 2015.
