NORTHERN ONTARIO - Val d'Or, Que.-based DIANOR RESOURCES has recovered a total of 36 commercial-sized (>850 microns) diamonds from its Leadbetter property in Chabanel Township. The latest were found in a 300-kg sample taken from pits 6 and 7, which yielded 513 stones having a combined weight of 0.323 ct. Indicator minerals such as olivine, clinopyroxene, chromite and picroilmenite were also identified in the sample.
Bedrock sampling on the Leadbetter property to-date has resulted in the recovery of 20,591 diamonds from 2.15 tonnes of diamond-bearing rock (DBR) samples from 15 bedrock pits. An overall preliminary estimated diamond grade of 1.30 carats per tonne is now projected for the DBR unit which outcrops on the property. These numbers are preliminary projections that may vary as the total sample weight increases, warned Dianor.
The company has posted a very nice gallery of photos illustrating the working environment, logistics and field techniques of the northern Canadian diamond hunt at www.Dianor.com.
