Jim Carr, and Juan Jose Aranguren, Argentina’s Minister of Energy and Mines, signed a memorandum of understanding on June 14 agreeing to combine their countries’ expertise to deliver clean energy solutions for the future. Three separate MoUs were signed:
  • Energy: Place a high priority on energy efficiency as a means to reduce energy and costs and to achieve climate goals;
  • Mining policy: Share a commitment to sustainable mineral resource development resulting in economic growth and environmental stewardship; and
  • Nuclear energy: Continue to work toward a bilateral framework for collaboration on such projects, its research and development, and policies aimed at the sustainable development of nuclear energy.
The two men met at the G20 Energy Transitions Ministerial Meeting this week in Argentina. The meeting focused on transitioning to more flexible, transparent and cleaner energy systems as well as affordable access to energy. Both countries are committed to a clean energy future at home and abroad. Carr said, “These agreements demonstrate that by leveraging our expertise and advancing energy co-operation we will move closer to meeting our climate change commitments and position Canada to be a leader in the clean growth economy.” Take part in Canada's national energy dialogue, Generation Energy.
