MOSCOW - The RUSAL, SUAL and GLENCORE merger is complete, making United Company Rusal the worlds largest aluminum and alumina producer. Canadas ALCAN drops to second spot.
UC Rusal has a portfolio including four bauxite mines, 10 alumina refineries, 14 aluminum smelters and three foil mills. Annual production capacity is approximately 4 million t of aluminum and 11 million t of alumina. The new company will have pro forma sales of US$12 billion annually. Its more than 100,000 employees live and work in 17 countries across five continents.
The non-executive chairman Victor Vekselberg was previously chairman of Sual. The company will be led by CEO Alexander Bulygin who was previously CEO of Rusal. Additional information concerning UC Rusal is available at www.AluminiumLeader.com.(Note the second i in aluminium.)
