Tarsis Resources
The White River property was discovered in June 2010 and was staked shortly thereafter with additional ground added twice during 2010 and once in 2011.
The property now comprises 335 claims (7,000 ha), located 11 km north of the all-weather Alaska Highway. Access to the property is by helicopter.
During 2011, Tarsis Resources carried out early-stage exploration comprising prospecting, mapping, soil sampling and trenching. The soil sampling has been carried out over two campaigns, the first around 1,600 soil samples, followed by the collection of an additional 2,000 samples as follow-up.
Prospecting and mapping identified a number of structures and lineaments on the property which appear to coincide with mineralization, and 14 hand trenches were designed to properly assess these targets.
Highlights from the prospecting included the discovery of the Cool Zone, which features high grade select prospecting samples collected over approximately 350 m with assays showing gold values from 0.02 g/t to 18.9 g/t copper values ranging from 146 ppm to 22.1% and silver values ranging from 2.25 g/t to 595 g/t.
Subsequently, another four zones were identified, each returning highly anomalous values of gold, copper and silver. The zones occur over an area more than 4 km2, with supporting soil geochemical results, and potential has also been identified 8 km east of the main work area.
Near the end of last year’s exploration program, Tarsis carried out short Induced Polarization (IP) survey, which can identify the presence of sulphide mineralization beneath the surface. The company is confident the soil, rock and geophysical results will help identify diamond drill targets for 2012.
Both Tarsis and Teck Resources, which has staked the adjoining ground, have recently added to their landholdings in the area and both intend to carry out further exploration at White River in 2012.
