Publications (October 01, 2000)

Canadian Mining Journal Staff | October 1, 2000 | 12:00 am

The Art & Science of Writing Geoscience Reports by Brian Grant, P.Geo., is a new manual aimed at explorationists and students, as it focuses on report products and standards required during the normal course of mineral exploration and development. It is also a valuable reference for those in research, government surveys, and minerals-related industries such as regulators, stock brokers, analysts and investment managers.

The manual identifies & describes essential components of informative geoscience reports and maps; provides standards for report and map contents; recommends style and presentation concepts; incorporates standards for data acquisition and presentation; and provides guidelines for editing and review of reports. It includes numerous illustrations and handy tables with reference information, and a newly revised geological time scale.

There is an appendix that incorporates and elaborates on recommendations for reporting proposed in the new National Standards 43-101, produced by the Toronto Stock Exchange and the Ontario Securities Commission.
