North America’s largest mining skips built
Dorr-Oliver Eimco’s Mines Division in Orillia, Ont., was recently awarded a project to provide two Rolachute skips for the Mosaic potash mine in Esterhazy, Sask., with additional equipment orders pending.
The Rolachute design is particularly well suited for potash and salt mines. These two new skips will be the largest skips ever manufactured in North America, each measuring over 75 ft in height and weighing approximately 68,000 lb. Due to their large size, the skips must be supplied in three sections for installation into the shaft. Once the skips are operational they will be able to handle capacities up to 1,200 ft3, or 50 tons.
Dorr-Oliver Eimco is a subsidiary of the Canadian-based company, Groupe Laperrire & Verreault Inc. (GL&V). For more information, contact Jim Brownlee, manager of the mining division, at 705-325-6181 or Jim.Brownlee@glv.com, or visit www.glv.com.
