Determination Starts To Pay Off

When it comes to determination, few can match that of Bill Harris and his commitment to finding gold in the mountain near where he was born.

As a second generation prospector who has been visiting and working in the Freegold Mountain area of the Yukon since the age of 5, Bill now heads up Northern Freegold Resources in its quest to transform a 166 sq km package of land some 200 km northwest of Whitehorse into one of the largest mining operations of its kind in the Yukon.

The junior exploration company from Vancouver is leaving nothing to speculation. If it’s there, Harris and his team will find it. In fact, the project’s two designated zones; Nucleus and Tinta, have, so far, more than 380 drill holes in them totaling almost 65,000 m. More than $20 million has been spent on drilling alone since 2006 and it won’t stop as Northern Freegold plans to keep going. And here’s why.

Late last summer the company’s NI 43-101 report showed an Inferred resource of 1,082,000 contained ounces of gold within 67.57 million tonnes @ 0.50 g/t gold (0.3 g/t cutoff within the Nucleus Zone.

The report also had an Inferred resource of 70,000 contained ounces of gold, 2,010,000 ounces of silver, 8,000,000 lbs of copper, 25,700,000 lbs of lead and 42,800,000 lbs of zinc within 1,390,000 tonnes at 1.62 g/t gold (0.3 g/t cutoff) 44.93 g/t silver. 0.26% copper. 0.84% lead, 1.04% zinc within the Tinta Zone.

With results like these, it’s no wonder that the Freegold Mountain Project is one of the more ‘scratched up’ sites in the Territory. But as mentioned earlier, it’s only going to show more signs of exploration this spring when Northern Freegold resumes work at the site.

As Bill Harris says, the company is pleased that another exploration program has been completed at Freegold Mountain and that a detailed drill program, particularly in the Nucleus Zone, has helped identify additional target areas to test and potentially expand resources and prioritize targets for 2010.

With a property that is 35 km long and 6 km wide and containing at least 20 zones showing prospects, it’s no wonder Northern Freegold is anxious to get back to its mountain in the spring to continue uncovering more of its treasures.

And fortunately for them, getting back to work at the Freegold Mountain Project is not as difficult as it is for most other exploration companies with properties throughout the Yukon.

It’s not to say that getting back to the site is not without its challenges, but by comparison to some others, it’s relatively easy thanks to the project being located on the Freegold Mountain Road, a government maintained gravel road that connects to the Klondike Highway, an all-weather paved highway leading to Whitehorse.

As an added bonus to the project’s location is that powerlines are located along the Klondike Highway just 30 km from the Freegold Project boundary. In Yukon terms, that’s almost like having them in their backyard.

It’s this kind of infrastructure, coupled with a huge property containing vast resources, that is making Northern Freegold Recources one of the better-known names in the Yukon but then again, why shouldn’t it be?

It’s being headed by a man whose name has also been associated with Freegold and the Yukon for generations.

A huge property and sprawling base camp at Northern Freegold’s Freegold Mountain project clearly shows that the company is determined to turn the site into one of the larger mining operations of its kind in the Yukon.
